Capitol Hill in DC: exquisitely beautiful examples of mid-Atlantic row house architecture. #
In front of the Air& Space museum: a boy flies a paper airplane. His dad isn’t interested. They go into the museum. #
On the Mall: plump tourists wearing pastels and big sun hats dragging bored, hot children. #
Folklife Festival: Bhutanese folk songs have lots of ornamentation and melisma and sentiment. #
Anxious young woman on a cell phone. Then she relaxes, smiles, waves. A young man walks up. They go to get lunch. #

Dining car: supper with a sculptor, breakfast with retired military, lunch with a homeschooling mom. #

Waiting for the train, and listening to an incredibly loud cicada in the pine tree next to me. #
Talking with a South Florida cab driver about the Blackhawk War that took place in Illinois in the 1830s. #
Just passed a huge open semi filled with oranges. #

People are raving about Van Jones’ Ware lecture. I watched it on the Web, too lazy to walk to the convention center #
Oops. Slept late, & am missing Sunday a.m. worship. Guess I needed sleep more than worship…. #
Already, people are beginning to leave GA. It’s starting to feel a little empty… #

Another lightly attended workshop, the room only a third full. Light attendance at GA this year I guess. #

Evening in Ft. Lauderdale is wonderful: warm breezes thru romantic palm trees. #
